WildStory QuickTip: Send a personalized email to Zoo & Aquarium visitors after they visit.

After a visitor leaves your zoo or aquarium, send a personalized follow-up email within 48 hours — thank them for their visit, share a meaningful story from your zoo, and invite them to stay connected.

If they are members, include a “zoo insider” bonus, e.g. PDF guide, printable zoo coloring pages, inside news from the zoo keepers, etc.

If they are not yet members, invite them to join your email list and include an incentive, such as that they’ll receive a PDF guide, printable coloring pages, or inside news from the zoo keepers when they subscribe.

The key will be ensuring you get peoples’ email addresses when they purchase their tickets. When purchased online, you should have this data. For in-person purchases, a QR-code at the gate or a prompt on the credit card processor are both ways to have staff ask people for their email addresses, which will help grow your list… and your zoo or aquarium’s impact.

This simple step can be automated and is a great way to connect with visitors and increase future engagement.
